Ekahau for wireless design
Ekahau, distributed in Italy by Aikom Technology, makes solutions for the design and management of indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi networks. The brand bases its functionality on the use of heatmaps applied to room floor plans. This is the ultimate tool for those designing Wi-Fi networks.
Ekahau’s suite of products creates an ideal ecosystem with Cambium Networks’ cnPilot Access Points, which can meet the design needs associated with facilities of any size and complexity.
For example, products such as Ekahau HeatMapper Free allow free mapping of Wi-Fi networks. Or, Ekahau Pro Software products are suitable for managing complex projects and are great for IT professionals.
Ekahau Site Survey: the solution for Wi-Fi
Installers and system integrators find the Site Survey Suite, which forms the core of the brand’s product portfolio, the ultimate solution for onsite and offsite, indoor and outdoor wireless networks. It is in fact used to design, install, verify, validate and maintain, in an agile and efficient manner, one’s Wi-Fi networks.
The main features of this software, which make it unique and extremely high-performance, are:
- Simultaneous survey of 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies;
- Simultaneous passive, active and spectrometric survey;
- Support for throughput surveys (iPerf);
- Support for use of three simultaneous capture cards;
- GPS support for outdoor survey;
- Localization of all Access Points;
- Census of APs, channels, SSIDs;
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac support.
The product is installable on PCs with Windows (up to 10.x) and Mac operating systems and is divided into several modules.
Site Survey module for a mapping of networks
The program provides a comprehensive overview of Wi-Fi coverage and network performance, thus enabling you to improve and solve any issues in wireless networks, both indoor and outdoor.
Ekahau Site Survey records field surveys, graphically contextualizes the data on the map, and is then able to validate the data. It is also capable of verifying the achievement of coverage and density requirements and highlighting any critical issues. Data are acquired via Sidekick or via USB acquisition cards (up to three SA-1 and up to two DBx).
Planner module: a safe design
Using Ekahau Site Survey Planner, you can design an802.11 a/b/g/n/ac off-site wireless network infrastructure quickly and easily. This is done by importing one or more floor plans and defining the requirements to be met by the Wi-Fi network. The software calculates how many Access Points are required and where to install them.
Finally, the software has the Autoplanner feature, capable of designing a Wi-Fi network from defined coverage and capacity requirements in no time.
Planner works on indoor spaces as well as for projects on multi-story buildings. The constantly updated internal database includes more than 2,000 multivendor APs. Through integration with the optional GPS module, surveys can be carried out on outdoor W-Fi networks.
