Fluidmesh Networks Inc: outdoor wireless ethernet solutions

Fluidmesh Networks was founded in 2005 by a team of researchers and visionaries from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Politecnico di Milano. The goal was to reliably achieve fiber-like performance via unlicensed wireless spectrum, thus providing mission critical connectivity for video, voice and data.

Within a few years, this solution became the choice of customers who wanted to bring network connectivity without the inconvenience, time or expense of laying a wired connection. Its role became so important in the market that the 2020 start-up was acquired and now it can be associated with the Fluidmesh Cisco pair.

Fluidmesh Milan plays a key role in bringing broadband connectivity to sites and environments that are today difficult or too large to be reliably connected. This is the case, for example, with high-speed moving vehicles and trains, large-scale industrial sites, distributed infrastructure and complex urban environments.

Proprietary FLUIDITY Technology

Fluidmesh’s innovative transmission protocol is called FLUIDITY. It is the only license-free track-side wireless solution that provides customers with an outstanding experience of fast Wi-Fi connectivity on trains.

Thanks to this technology, it is possible to have up to 500 Mbps bandwidth on a train traveling at up to 350 km/h, all without service interruption and with reduced investment to configure the ground network. This is possible because FLUIDITY can take advantage of the poles and infrastructure of existing GMS systems without interfering with them.

Fluidmesh Milan has worked for years with mass transit agencies, airports and seaports in several countries, helping them transmit data, video and voice from remote locations and moving vehicles. Now, thanks to FLUIDITY, it is indeed possible:

  • Provide passengers with stable broadband Wi-Fi connectivity;
  • Transmit real-time video from on-board security cameras;
  • Send diagnostic data from vehicles for preventive maintenance;
  • Managing unmanned metropolitan transportation using CBTC technologies.

FLUIDITY can thus bring countless benefits in different areas, such as:

  • High speed Wi-Fi;
  • Video surveillance on board vehicles and trains;
  • VoIP;
  • Digital signage.

Fluidmesh Networks Inc Technologies

The main wireless Ethernet solutions provided by the company are the FM 3200 ENDO and the FM 4200 MOBI.

FM 3200 ENDO

The Fluidmesh 3200 ENDO wireless apparatus is designed and built for trackside or vehicle installations that do not require railway-type certifications. It provides mission critical backhauling of video, voice and data. FM 3200 ENDO can be used to create point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, mesh and mobility network connections with a volume of up to 150 Mbps.

FM 4200 MOBI

Supporting FLUIDITY technology, Fluidmesh 4200 MOBI can offer fast and stable connectivity to vehicles and trains via trackside and onboard installations.
The FM 4200 MOBI wireless apparatus has already received numerous rail and transportation certifications, making it a safe choice for installation on many transportation systems, including high-speed trains.
